Bazi Calculator with Birth Location
Bazi (八字, “eight characters”) writes the moment you were born as four pillars. Enter your birth city and we apply its daylight-saving history and local solar time for you — then show your Day Master, Ten Gods and hidden stems.

Your Five Elements
Counted from your eight visible characters. No Wood appears — a theme to reflect on, not a lack.
庚 Geng Metal, the uncut blade
Geng is metal before the smith touches it — ore in the mountain, an axe still unsharpened. It is the most straightforward of the ten Day Masters: it says what it means and keeps its word.
Three Fire characters surround you. In Korean Saju, Fire is what tempers Metal — structure and responsibility that refine rather than break.
Geng likes fairness and fast decisions, and can be blunt on the way there.
For entertainment and self-reflection only. Saju describes tendencies, not fixed outcomes.

What is a Bazi calculator?
Bazi (八字, “eight characters”) is the Chinese name for the Four Pillars of Destiny. A Bazi calculator converts your birth date, time and place into four pairs of characters — a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch for your year, month, day and hour. The stem of your day pillar is your Day Master, the reference point for the whole reading.
How is a Bazi chart calculated?
The year pillar changes at Lichun (立春, Start of Spring, around February 4), not on January 1 or Chinese New Year. The month pillar changes at the twelve “jie” solar terms. The day pillar follows an unbroken cycle of 60 days, and the hour pillar follows twelve two-hour blocks (shichen) of local solar time. This calculator does each step and shows its working under “How we got your chart”.
What is true solar time, and why can it change my hour pillar?
Clocks follow time zones; the pillars follow the sun. The sun reaches its highest point four minutes later for every degree you are west of your time zone’s meridian — and daylight saving moves the clock an hour further. In Madrid in July, for example, the clock runs about two hours and fifteen minutes ahead of the sun, enough to move the hour pillar by one block. Strictly, “true” solar time also includes the equation of time (up to about 16 minutes); like most Korean almanacs, we correct for longitude and daylight saving only, and tell you so.
Why does a Bazi calculator need my birth location?
Your birth place tells us two things: the clock rules in force that day — time zone, daylight or war time, historic changes — and your longitude. Most calculators ask you to work out daylight saving yourself. Here you pick the city, and the IANA time-zone database supplies the history for that exact date.
What are the Ten Gods in a Bazi chart?
The Ten Gods (十神, shi shen) name each character by how its element relates to your Day Master: the same element (Friend, Rob Wealth), the element you produce (Eating God, Hurting Officer), the element you control (Indirect and Direct Wealth), the element that controls you (Seven Killings, Direct Officer) and the element that produces you (Indirect and Direct Resource). Yin–yang decides which of each pair applies.
What if I don’t know my birth time?
You still get the year, month and day pillars, including your Day Master. Only the hour pillar — two of the eight characters — needs the time. If you were born on a day when a solar term begins, we warn you that the month pillar could fall either side.
Why do different Bazi calculators give different charts?
Usually for one of five reasons: daylight saving was ignored, the birth place longitude was ignored, the year was started at Chinese New Year instead of Lichun, the Rat hour (23:00–01:00) was split differently, or the solar terms were rounded to the day. Under “Calculation options” you can switch off the solar-time correction or keep the day pillar until midnight to compare. For how Korean Saju practice differs, see Saju vs Bazi.
